Waveshare SIM7070G NB-IoT / Cat-M / GPRS / GNSS HAT for Raspberry Pi is a compact cellular IoT HAT built around the SIM7070G module, designed for Raspberry Pi and also suitable for Arduino and STM32 development through its breakout control interface. It combines global-band NB-IoT, Cat-M, GPRS, and GNSS positioning in one board, making it a practical choice for remote monitoring, asset tracking, smart metering, smart agriculture, smart city, and other low-power IoT deployments.
This Waveshare SIM7070G HAT supports common cloud and networking protocols including TCP, UDP, HTTP, HTTPS, TLS, DTLS, LWM2M, COAP, and MQTT. With onboard USB for AT command testing, a standard Raspberry Pi 40PIN GPIO header, GNSS antenna support, and development resources for multiple platforms, it works well for developers building cellular communication and GNSS tracking projects.

Development support: this Waveshare SIM7070G Raspberry Pi HAT can be used directly with Raspberry Pi through the 40PIN header, or connected to STM32 and Arduino through the breakout UART control interface. Official reference wiring and setup images are included below for quick deployment.
Network note: the official FAQ states that SIM7070X / SIM7080X series cannot use cellular networking and GNSS positioning at the same time. If your application depends on both communication and positioning, plan the workflow accordingly.
Signal note: if the module has trouble registering to the network, the official AT command guidance highlights AT+CMNB=2 for fixed NB-IoT, AT+CMNB=1 for fixed Cat-M, and AT+CNMP=38 for fixed LTE mode.

1. What SIM card type does this board support?
It supports a 25mm 15mm standard SIM card. If you are using a Micro SIM or Nano SIM, you need a suitable SIM card holder or adapter.
2. Why does the module sometimes not respond to AT commands immediately?
The official guidance notes that SIM7070G may get stuck when first powered on. Send the AT command several times until it returns OK.
3. Can SIM7070G use cellular networking and GPS positioning at the same time?
No. According to the official FAQ, the SIM7070X / SIM7080X series cannot connect to the cellular network and use GPS positioning simultaneously.
4. What should I do if there is no signal?
You can try fixing the network mode with AT+CMNB=2 for NB-IoT, AT+CMNB=1 for Cat-M, or AT+CNMP=38 for LTE mode, then refer to the official AT command manual for operator-specific configuration.
