The Red UL1015 Wire Cable 12 AWG is a standard electrical wire used in various electrical and electronic applications, known for its durability, flexibility, and ability to handle higher current loads. Here’s a detailed description:
Key Features:
- Type: UL1015, which is a specific type of wire rated by the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) for its electrical properties and safety standards.
- Gauge: 12 AWG (American Wire Gauge), indicating a wire diameter of approximately 2.05 mm (0.081 inches). This size is capable of carrying more current (typically up to 20-25 amps depending on the insulation and application) compared to thinner wires.
- Conductor: Made of stranded copper wires, providing excellent electrical conductivity and flexibility. Stranded copper is preferred in applications requiring flexibility as it bends more easily than solid copper wire.
- Insulation: Covered with PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) insulation, which is heat-resistant, flame-retardant, and provides protection against abrasion, moisture, and chemicals.
- Voltage Rating: The UL1015 specification typically allows for a voltage rating of 600V.
- Temperature Rating: Can operate in temperatures up to 105C (221F), making it suitable for various environments.
- Color: The wire is red, which is commonly used in electrical wiring to indicate positive voltage, power lines, or other specific functions depending on the application.
Applications:
- Internal wiring in appliances, machinery, and control panels.
- Automotive and marine applications where durability and flexibility are important.
- General-purpose electrical wiring for power distribution and other circuits.
