Required Circuit Interface ComponentsTo successfully interface the sensor with a microcontroller (like an Arduino), you cannot simply connect power and read data. The internal infrared LED must be pulsed cleanly. Most retail packages include these two crucial components:
- 150 Resistor: Used to limit current to the infrared LED.
- 220 F Capacitor: Acts as a decoupling capacitor to stabilize power during rapid current spikes when the LED pulses.
Pin Configuration (6-Pin Connector)
- V-LED: Connects to 5V through the 150 resistor.
- LED-GND: Connects directly to the system Ground.
- LED: Connects to a digital output pin on the microcontroller to toggle the infrared emitter.
- S-GND: Device circuit Ground.
- Vo: Analog output voltage pin connected to an Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) input on your microcontroller.
- Vcc: Main 5V power supply input.
Primary Applications
- Smart Air Purifiers: Triggers fans when smoke or heavy house dust is introduced.
- HVAC Systems: Air conditioners or indoor ventilation systems to monitor general air filtration quality.
- DIY IoT Electronics: Cost-friendly introductory air pollution or fire/smoke alarm monitors.
