Atom DTU LoRaWAN-EU868 is a programmable LoRaWAN data transmission unit for the EU868 frequency band. Built around the STM32WLE5 solution, it combines long-range wireless communication, low power consumption, high sensitivity, UART AT command control, and RS485 wired connectivity in an Atomic-series base form factor.
The built-in LoRaWAN protocol stack supports Class A, Class B, and Class C operation modes, with OTAA and ABP activation for connecting to LoRaWAN server platforms such as TTN, ChirpStack, Actility, and Tencent Cloud. Atom DTU LoRaWAN-EU868 also supports LoRa P2P communication, allowing direct device-to-device data exchange without a gateway when a private point-to-point link is required.
For field deployment, the base includes a high-sensitivity stick antenna, an HT3.96-4P wiring terminal, LEGO-compatible mounting holes, and a 35mm DIN-rail mounting slot. Atom DTU LoRaWAN-EU868 is suitable for smart agriculture, industrial monitoring, environmental monitoring nodes, and long-range low-power IoT data collection in regions that use the EU868 band.

The device supports LoRaWAN network operation through OTAA or ABP and can also run LoRa P2P communication for direct links. The Arduino tutorial demonstrates LoRa P2P communication and LoRaWAN network connection using an Atom controller with the DTU base.
For wiring, the documented pin map includes UART RX/TX, RS485 RX/TX, 5V, GND, and 3V3 connections. The HY2.0-4P Port.A mapping lists GND, 5V, G25 for Atom Lite, and G21 for Atom Lite.
EU868 deployment should follow the local regional frequency plan. The documentation lists many supported countries and regions, including Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and other EU868-compatible regions.
