The LD6001 is a highly integrated 60GHz millimeter-wave radar module featuring a sophisticated 4T3R (four-channel transmitter, three-channel receiver) antenna architecture. Unlike standard sensors, it leverages the high bandwidth of the 60GHz spectrum to provide high-precision tracking of human targets. It is capable of detecting the location, quantity (up to eight people), and real-time walking trajectories within a monitored space with exceptional accuracy.

For optimal performance, the module should be installed on a vertical wall at a height of 2.2 meters. The front of the module (antenna) should be tilted downwards at a 10 angle. While this setup is recommended for the best detection accuracy, the height and angle can be slightly adjusted based on the specific test environment and site requirements.

1. What is the advantage of 60GHz over 24GHz radar?
The 60GHz band provides much higher bandwidth (up to 4GHz sweep), which allows for finer distance resolution and the ability to distinguish between multiple targets that are close together.
2. Can the LD6001 detect people through glass or wooden partitions?
Yes, 60GHz millimeter waves can penetrate non-metallic materials like glass, drywall, and wood, allowing the sensor to be hidden behind a housing or ceiling for aesthetic purposes.
3. How does the module report data?
The LD6001 typically outputs data via a UART interface, providing the X and Y coordinates, target ID, and movement status of all detected individuals.
4. Is it possible to limit the detection range to less than 8 meters?
Yes, the detection range is configurable. Users can set the maximum sensing boundary through the serial port commands to prevent false triggers from adjacent rooms.
5. Does it require a complex algorithm on the host MCU?
No, the LD6001 features an integrated processor that handles the complex radar signal processing. The host MCU simply receives the final tracking results (coordinates and count).
6. Can it work in total darkness?
Absolutely. Since it uses radio waves instead of light, it works perfectly in total darkness, bright sunlight, or smoky environments where traditional cameras fail.
